Stash Sale in aid of Breast Cancer Research.
Saturday October 9th 2010. We are holding a stash sale. So sort through your stash & get rid of all those pieces of fabric you bought but now can't remember why on earth you bought it. We only want good pieces or pieces which have a fault clearly marked.
What to do next!
Measure the pieces Width & length.
Bring them along to English Couture on Saturday 9th October before 11am
Tell us how much you want for the piece, we will add 10%, this will go to Breast Cancer Research. Tea, coffee & cakes will be on sale whilst you wait (in aid of Breast Cancer Research).
Sale starts at midday. You will need to replace all the pieces you have just put up for sale!! All transactions are to be in cash. We will be open until 4pm.
English Couture staff will be around all day giving advise on interfacings, haberdashery etc. For the new fabric you have just purchased. We hope to see you there.
7th June:
New shop now open. Our opening times are Tuesday - Friday 9.30am - 4.30pm Saturdays 9.30am - 1 pm. We will be closed on Mondays. We have had several problems during the move, including a lack of credit card machines so there has been a delay in sending out the website orders. Please accept our apologies for the delay. The service should be back to normal by the beginning of next week.
18th May, We are moving premises this weekend. We will be at 18 The Green, High Street, Syston, Leicestershire, LE7 1HQ. It is a much bigger premises so we will be able to open a shop. The opening day will be Saturday 5th June. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. The new telephone numbers will be English Couture 0116 2606767 & Courses 0116 2606766. The mail order will continue as before, except whilst we move. Orders placed after lunchtime on Thursday 20th will not be sent out until Wednesday 26th May. Sorry for the delay but we will need time to sort ourselves out. We look forward to recieving all of your orders in the future.
6th January: We have today added some new products to our website. Some more non stretch lace to match lots of our fabric. We have brand new products, Fringing which looks just as if has been made from left over Linton tweed threads. This is perfect for trimming edge to edge jackets. We also have Insertion piping cord, plain & metalic. Great for trimming military style jackets, which are very fashionable at the moment or lighweight sort furnishings. Both of these products are listed under haberdashery, Miscellaneous.
16th December: We will be closing for Christmas at 2pm on 23rd December 2009, & re-opening on Monday 4th January 2010. you can still order whilst we are closed & all orders will be sent out on 4th January. You can order up to 23rd December & pay for Special delivery to get it there for Christmas. Just add special delivery to the any special instructions & we'll take care of the rest. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all our customers.
6th November 2009. Send your Christmas wish list to us by email. Then give our number to all your friends & family & we'll do the rest. We will be posting out parcels until December 23rd 2009. We also have gift vouchers which can be sent for any amount needed.
19th October 2009. English Couture beats the postal strike. We have found a new courier service to bypass the post office. You will recieve your parcel the day after the order is recieved. The areas covered by the courier are as follows, if you don't come within the areas covered your parcel can still be sent but with an extra cost of £4.95.

13th August: New lace & lingerie fabrics now in stock. Have another look at our extensive range of lingerie laces. We have a fantastic new embroidery with a butterfly & flower motif. With an insert stretch lace to match. Perfect for lingerie projects. Also a heavyweight lycra perfect for bras with suppport matching lace to go with this fabric. These are just a few of the exciting new products added to our range.
31st July. Brand new tailoring course announced. This six day course will enable you to make a perfectly fitted professional jacket to the highest standards. The course is a first for Michelle to pass on her expertise from the tailoring industry. It will be a popular course only run in Leicester. The payment can be split into three installments, so book now, to get on to this unique course.
17th July. New course dates announced for the rest of the year & up to the end of March 2010. New course details will follow as soon as possible.
1st June: We will be closed for Summer Holidays from Saturday 6th June to Monday 15th June. Any orders placed before 2o'clock on Friday 5th June will be sent on the 5th. You can still place orders on the website but any orders placed after 2o'clock on the 5th will not be dispatched until the 15th.
11th May: We are now down to the last 20 copies of the Terry Fox book. Once the stock goes thats it! So order now.
11th May 2009: New Lingerie fabrics are added to the site. A fantastic new range of fabrics for all lingerie projects,
LY120 Heavyweight demin coloured fabric perfect for corsetry or bra making,

All of these fabrics now have a new feature on the page,the trimmings to match the fabric are there complete with a link to take you straight to the page. All the other fabrics will be updated to match this new layout as soon as time allows. This should make choosing trimmings a bit easier.
29th Januay 2009: New course details released. Michelle has announced a whole new batch of dates going up to the end of the September 2009. These dates include four dates for a new Advanced Bra Making course. This course is designed for any one who has done the original Bra Making course. It gives a greater understanding of simple alterations, for fitting & style changes. Samples will be made of lace cup insertion & padded cups. Just part of this exciting course. 19th January 2009: Stand Number for NEC Announced Come & visit us at the Sewing for Pleasure Exhibition. We will have a stand for the English Couture Company selling all the interfacings & lingerie fabrics & trimmings Stand Number J10. The exhibition runs from the 12th-15th March 2009. Michelle will be on a stand oppsite to this demonstrating techniques from her courses & if you want to try out any of the interfacings just ask. You can see her outfits in the fashion show which runs three times on each day of the show.
15th December 2008: New interfacing in stock ECC91 Washable Supersoft. A fantastic new interfacing, it is a bi-stretch interfacing, medium weight, dry cleanable & washable up to 40°. I've tried it on two jackets & I think it sticks faster than the other interfacings & it makes fabrics feel luxurious. Michelle. See fusible interfacings in the product pages, for a jacket.
