This day has been designed to explain some of the problem areas of tailoring in depth. The techniques demonstrated are not inherent in any one specific area of tailoring e.g. couture or traditional, making this workshop invaluable in all methods of application. On arrival you are given a folder of vital information to help you understand the theory behind the projects of the day. And now the work begins! You will construct a tailored two piece sleeve. This will include interlining by contouring, first and second seams, bending, steaming, and taping an under arm seam, stayed and looped stitched plackets, interfaced hems and mitred corners. We will then set in the sleeve using a method which instantly cures all the usual problems of setting in a sleeve, such as unwanted wrinkles, tucks and puckers, making this method easier for difficult fabrics that will not ease and also in the matching of checks. At this stage we will discuss bias cut sleeve caps, sleeve heads and magical wrapped sleeve seams. Next! The third essential step to a professionally set in sleeve. The customised shoulder pad. Fill the gap between you and the outside fabric and watch this amazing way to contour an extended shoulder pad to sit on each individual shape, perfectly. Finally you will attach the pad to the sleeve armhole.
